Skin Care Essentials

With the plethora of skincare products and ingredients out on the market, it can be easy to accumulate bottles of creams and serums in your vanity. But guess what? Your skin does not need a 10-step nightly routine to stay healthy! We all have our unique skin concerns, but there are some skincare basics that every woman should include in their regimen for good-looking skin. Wondering what you should and shouldn’t keep? Here are the products that your skin actually needs.

Cleanser

Everybody needs a good cleanser in their skincare kit. They are essential for removing any makeup residue and grime at the end of the day, keeping your skin fresh and, most importantly, clean. There are many types of cleansers out there, and deciding between a foaming, a milky, or an oil-based cleanser can take a little bit of trial and error. Take note of how your skin feels after cleansing. If it feels dry, taunt or uncomfortable, this is an indication that your cleanser is too harsh.

Exfoliant

The build-up of dead skin cells can make the skin look dull, dry and lacklustre. An exfoliator works deeper than a cleanser to help remove the older cells and reveal the glowy, fresh skin underneath. Regular exfoliation is key to plump and youthful-looking skin! A mechanical exfoliator, such as a scrub gently buffs away dead skin cells on the surface. You can also choose a chemical exfoliator, such as glycolic acid or lactic acid, to dissolve the cells.

Eye Cream

The skin around our eyes is delicate and is often more prone to wrinkles. Choosing an eye cream ultimately comes down to your personal preference and concerns. If you wish to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, we recommend retinol or hyaluronic acid ingredients. If you tend to wake up with puffy eyes, an eye cream with caffeine can reduce water retention in the area.

Moisturizer

Chronic dryness is the number one enemy of young-looking skin. There are many moisturizers out on the market, and you can choose one depending on your skin type, season, and budget. In the winter, our skin tends to get drier and can often benefit from a heavier moisturizer. For skin that is breakout-prone, look out for water-based and non-comedogenic formulas that won’t clog your pores.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is your number one defence against wrinkles and uneven pigmentation. Make sure to put sunscreen on every morning, rain or shine, summer or winter!
