Fat reduction and body contouring are a few of the most popular forms of cosmetic body treatments that many people opt for. One of the most popular procedures to achieve this effect is BodyFX. It is a process in which radiofrequency energy, deep tissue heating, and light vacuum pressure are used to distribute heat to the skin, causing the underlying fat to contract to tighten and fat cells to melt over time. BodyFX is generally a safe procedure and can be used on all body parts that may contain stubborn fat reserves. It is usually preferred as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. For optimum results, BodyFX treatments should be taken every week in an eight week period. Some of the possible side effects during the treatment can be the warming of the skin and redness in the treated area.

Another process that is widely used for fat reduction is Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting involves exposing fatty body parts to temperatures ranging from -11 to 5 for non-invasive localized reduction of fats. Exposure to such extreme temperatures causes the death of fat cells without damaging the overlying skin. Common side effects include rashes, redness, bruising or numbness which usually subside over a period of time. You may be wondering since both procedures offer the same result what is the difference and which one to choose. Here are some key differences between the two procedures.

Results

As far as fat loss is concerned both, BodyFX and Coolsculpting are quite effective. However, Their results vary in some ways. In BodyFX, the applicator pinpoints on specific areas of treatment. This results in the loss of fat cells through apoptosis. Radiofrequency used in BodyFX helps to tighten up the skin and melt fat cells slowly over a period of time.

On the contrary, Coolsculpting is a non-targeted fat loss and results are often accompanied by loose, saggy skin. The technique used in coolsculpting treats fat spots arbitrarily. BodyFX allows better body shaping and contouring than Coolsculpting.

What happens during the process?

As described earlier, BodyFX uses radiofrequency and heat to destroy fat cells. These fat cells disappear safely through apoptosis. Radiofrequency creates deep-seated heat in the skin and tightens spots. Radiofrequency and heat combined together result in melting of fat cells over a period of time.

Nature of treatment

BodyFX needs continuous technician intervention through the entire treatment. This allows ample scope for patient doctor interaction. The patient can convey discomfort and discuss side effects adequately from time to time with the technician. In the case of Coolsculpting, the patient is usually left unattended once the machine is set up. A paging system usually alerts the staff in case the patient needs assistance.

Effect of cellulite

Cellulite is one of the manifestations of fat. Sure most procedures help to get rid of fats from the body but very few are as effective on the body’s cellulite depositions. BodyFX gets rid of dimpled cellulite-ridden skin efficiently. It helps to regain elasticity especially on areas such as thighs, abdomen, love handles, etc. Coolsculpting is not very effective in treating cellulite.

While both the treatments are quite effective in getting rid of body fat, you may need a series of eight treatments within a four to eight week period for best results with BodyFX Body Contouring. With Coolsculpting, you can opt for one to two treatments on each applicator area. Depending on your target area and kind of fat, our skilled nurse at Enriched Med Spa can suggest the best form of fat reduction specific to you.
